Some personal news: ShopAgentic, the company Kai and I’ve been building, has closed a €1.9M pre-seed round. The full announcement is here.
The short version of why I’m doing this: e-commerce is about to change more than it has in twenty years. Customers increasingly don’t browse stores; they ask an AI. Most merchants aren’t ready for that shift, and the tools they’re given are dashboards with more checkboxes.
We think the answer isn’t another tool. It’s a team. ShopAgentic is a native agentic commerce system: a squad of specialized AI agents, each owning one commerce job end-to-end (catalog, feeds, content, chat, voice) while the merchant stays in charge of the outcome. No black-box decisions, consequential actions wait for your approval, and your data stays yours.
Building a company is mostly unglamorous work, and a pre-seed is a starting line, not a finish line. But it means we get to build this with real conviction and a runway, and I’m grateful to the investors and early believers who made that possible.
If you run an online store, or you’re about to start one, and you want agents working for you from day one, join the waitlist. And if you want the details on the round, they’re on the announcement page.
More to share soon.
